COVID-19 and Camp Information for Parents and Families

Dear Camp Greenwood Families:

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe and healthy, please know our thoughts are with each and every one of you during these challenging times.

In regards to summer camp and the present issue that must be kept in mind with holding camp, we will be following both medical and health advisory guidelines from the Tri-County Health Department and the state. Governor Polis spoke on May 11 and said that a decision on the operation of summer camps will be made on Monday, May 25. We are awaiting his announcement and as of right now, we are just cancelling the first week of Camp Greenwood that was expected to run May 26-29. We are working hard and diligently to begin Camp Greenwood on June 1 if we are given the green light to begin camps that week. If Governor Polis says that camps can begin later in the summer, we will push back our start date and encourage families who signed up for the beginning of camp to use that credit and sign up for later weeks, if that is not a possibility we will be giving refunds.

Camp Greenwood considers the health and safety of our campers, families and staff to be our top priority. In addition to our rigorous safety procedures and staff training protocols, we are following the latest guidelines on health and safety, cleaning and preparedness from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local departments of health, in addition to specific guidance from the American Camp Association and the Association of Camp Nursing. As information is quickly changing, we are regularly reviewing and updating our policies to ensure that we stay current with the CDC/local recommendations to keep all staff, campers and their families safe. We will have stepped up cleaning protocols, social distancing strategies, smaller and consistent groups (10 or fewer children), sick policies and temperature checks. While we understand that this year may feel uncertain, the Camp Greenwood community is here to support you every step of the way.

We truly hope to be able to spend a safe, healthy, exciting and fun summer with our campers!

In Health and Happiness,
