Ashtanga Yoga

Six Weeks to Ashtanga Primary Series

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a dynamic form of yoga and can be physically demanding and is a wonderful way to begin the journey of yoga. This course will focus on the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga, called “Yoga Chikitsa,” or “Yoga Therapy,” a potent practice that is grounding, cleansing and healing both in the body and the mind. It is suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. Traditionally taught slowly and individually tailored to each practitioner, this course is designed to give participants a taste of this practice and will cover a significant amount of material in a short period of time.

Previous yoga experience is not a prerequisite. All poses can be adapted to meet the needs of the students with injuries or other limitations but may not be suitable for pregnant women. Meeting twice per week, one day will be dedicated to learning in a workshop style and the second day to guided practice.

Ashtanga Yoga instructor Devra

Devra Katz

Devra attended her first yoga class at age 18, but really fell in love with the practice during college where she learned about bandha and breath and developed what would become a daily practice. Following graduation, Devra maintained a self-guided home practice as she traveled and explored. She found her home in Ashtanga Yoga and under the guidance of Maya Gross in Tel Aviv, completed over 500 hours of certified teacher training in traditional practice. Inspired by nature, learning and the infinite creative potential, Devra loves sharing the art of yoga.
