If you’ve ever finished a barre class and thought, “I could teach this,” you’re not alone. Barre has a way of turning devoted students into future instructors. The precision, the music, the small movements that create big results: once it clicks, you want to share it.
Club Greenwood’s 20-hour Barre Certification Training with Lindsey Long is designed for exactly that moment. Whether you’re ready to step to the front of the room or simply want to understand the method on a deeper level, this program gives you the knowledge, practice, and confidence to lead a full 60-minute barre class.
What You’ll Learn in Barre Teacher Training
Great barre instructors do more than demonstrate movements. They understand why each exercise works, how to keep every participant safe, and how to guide a room with clear, motivating cues. This certification covers the full foundation:
The history of barre. Understand where the method comes from, from its roots in ballet and rehabilitative exercise to the boutique fitness format loved today.
Anatomy and muscle activation. Learn which muscles each movement targets and how to help participants find true engagement, not just go through the motions.
Cueing and class leadership. Practice the verbal, visual, and hands-on cues that turn a good class into a great one, so participants feel supported at every level.
Technique and form. Master proper alignment and modifications so you can confidently teach to a mixed room of beginners and seasoned students.
Class structure. Build a complete 60-minute class with intentional flow, pacing, and progression.
A Training Format That Builds Real Confidence
Reading about barre and teaching barre are two very different things. That’s why this training blends classroom learning with time in the studio. Over two weekends, you’ll move between instruction, training classes, and practice teaching, so you leave having actually led participants through the work.
By the final session, you won’t just know the material. You’ll have used it.
