Stop Making Excuses, Let Club Greenwood Relieve Your Stress

For Self-Care and Exercise, Look No Further Than Club Greenwood

By Vivian Griggs

Who is ready for 2020 to be over? Yep, all of us, right? This is one very odd, mixed up, stressful year. Your work environment probably looks completely different (Zoom calls galore!). If you have kids in school, you probably need a sensory deprivation tank or punching bag to relieve THAT stress. And let’s not even start on the actual COVID-19 issues we’re dealing with. I’m the proud owner of several pretty masks, a fashion trend I never would have thought of.

Like many of you, I’m juggling multiple stressors. Work stress involves doing my best to help keep Club Greenwood rocking and rolling for all of you. At home, we decided to homeschool my son for a myriad of reasons but managing that and working full time is interesting, to say the least. Gratefully, my husband is helping teach but he’s currently in the job market so that has to be worked around. If you are stressed right now, I GET IT. I understand and I want to help.

There are people that cant turn off the brain to fall asleep. In general these are people who work too much and have some high level of responsibility. Ambien is a medicine which is to help people to calm and fall in sleep thus creating a chance for the body to have a rest and gain energy for the next day. My friend is like a person I described above. He warks hard and a lot and he cant just sleep t nights. The Ambien is his “saver”. Ambien (Zolpidem) helps him to fall asleep and recover. He is very happy to find a proper medicine.

Whatever is stressing you out right now, know that you still have to take care of yourself! You can’t help anyone until you help yourself first, so take the time to get healthy and get back into a routine. I know it’s hard when so many things pull on you every day but it is imperative that you set aside time to decompress and recharge your batteries. And frankly, exercise is probably the best multi-tasker for stress relief, immunity building, increasing energy, and supporting healthy sleep habits. There are plenty of reasons to back out of getting into a fitness routine, but trust us when we say that you have nothing to worry about. Here are a few excuses we’ve heard and what we’ve had to say about them:

  1. “I can’t work out in a mask”

Surprisingly, you get used to it. Or you can work out outside or book a 30-minute private use session in the SGPT studio. No mask required!

  1. “I’m nervous to be in the club”

I highly, highly recommend coming in when it’s quiet to see what is being done to keep you safe. And if it helps, according to health club data, only .004% of people checking in to health clubs have tested positive for COVID. So far, NO cases have been reported at our club.

  1. “I don’t have time”

Instead of trying to carve out a full hour-long workout, shoot for 30 minutes or four 15-minute workouts.

  1. I’m so out of shape from quarantine, how do even I start back up again?”

Slowly! I’m in the same boat. Stress eating while we were stuck at home snuck up on me! Ease back in. Be gentle to your body. Start with a little low-intensity cardio, yoga, or light weight routine. Still not sure? Reach out! One of our trainers would be happy to help you.

  1. “I have kids, what do I do with them when I’m working out?”

If you are working out at home, have them work out with you! Too little? This is a great time to lean on your support system and plan COVID-friendly playdates with friends. You can trade off so each of you has child-free time to work out. Plus, Kids Club and YAC are open at Club Greenwood! Let your kids have a break too!

  1. “With so many regulations, do I even have a choice in how I get to work out?

If you are working out at home, have them work out with you! Too little? This is a great time to lean on your support system and plan COVID-friendly playdates with friends. You can trade off so each of you has child-free time to work out. Plus, Kids Club and YAC are open at Club Greenwood! Let your kids have a break too!

Health clubs have become very creative in this COVID-19 environment. To comply with state regulations, studios and gyms like Club Greenwood have added booking features. So now you can book cardio equipment, workout spaces, and classes, to guarantee your spot with the added bonus of having an accountability factor to go to your appointment! If you are too busy to go to the gym on some days, you can livestream classes from home like cycling, yoga, barre, and HIIT classes.

We’re aware that society is in a delicate condition right now, but health and wellness need to be a top priority. Club Greenwood has managed to adapt, improvise, and overcome the challenges brought on by COVID-19 so that members can enjoy our services safely. Remember, COVID-19 won’t last forever but healthy habits will. That being said, stop making excuses, put on a mask, and get ready to work!
